The trial of Dharun Ravi, who as a first-semester Rutgers student in the fall of 2010 allegedly drove his gay roommate to suicide with anti-gay harassment, may be televised on cable.
Ravi is said to have spied on Tyler Clementi twice via webcam while Clementi and another man hooked up in the two students’ dorm room, and to have livestreamed the feed online, encouraging his Twitter followers to tune in. Clementi sought help online and from his RA before committing suicide by jumping off the George Washington bridge a day later.
At a hearing on Friday, neither prosecutors nor defense attorneys raised objections to televising the trial, which is likely to begin in March. The judge in the case indicated that he would allow the broadcast to take place if the camera’s operation was unobtrusive within the courtroom.

This trial must be televised! How else can the defendent hope to learn/have any empathy for the deceased? We need to see if he can be redeemed.He will go to a rehabitation facility,I assume,and they need to be aware of his anti-gay stance too.
In short Televise it so he can feel how it feels to do that to anyone! Imagine going anywhere and think people are staring at you because they watched you make love! Then to be shamed and humiliated by your own roomate.Poor kid had no safe haven at school even! Make him feel the flush of humilation that he has wrought on another! A human being who’s sex life was/is none of his business,yet he chose to exploit his roomates sexual preference anyway.It’s one of the most henious acts of hatred yet to be filmed on campus this decade! Right up there with Kent State! The horror,the horror.
