I’ll kick things off with a tweet that was posted out of Berkeley early this morning:

Guerrilla Girls On Tour!
Guerrilla Girls On Tour are getting ready to meet Yoko Ono Lennon and receive the 2010 Courage for the Arts award tonight. We are an anonymous touring theatre company of 26 women trained in a variety of comedic theatre techniques who develop unique and outrageous activist plays, performance art and street theatre. We’ve presented over 200 performances and workshops at college campuses and theatres around the world addressing reproductive rights, war, sex trafficking, hunger, herstory/history/hirstory and violence against women. In Ocotober we will work with feminists in Slovenia on a collaborative performance of their new play “If You Can Stand the Heat: The History of Women and Food” at the City of Women Festival! http://www.twitter.com/GuerrillaGsOT

Students from Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis University, and Webster University have been supporting the People’s Settlement, a 5-night, 6-day anti-capitalist encampment in downtown St. Louis. The Settlement has featured free meals, education, and entertainment for the community, and each day has been marked by different political actions against corporate targets.
At this point we have won several victories, including the restructuring of a number of loans in order to prevent foreclosures, and a meeting with the CEO of Laclede Gas to discuss the adoption of a nondiscrimination policy for LGBTQIA folks. Yesterday’s action targeting Peabody Energy was largely organized and actualized by Washington University student activists:

I wish I had been part of something bigger than yourself and world-wide. All I’m doing is running for office trying to help out the freshman for next year at Chico State in the Residence Hall Association. If you have a moment please check out my page to learn more about me and chico. http://bit.ly/9o8uYU
